Piera Hudson

She's determined, sassy and is delivering results all over the globe. Going it alone on the international FIS competition circuit is never easy but this young girl from Hawkes Bay, New Zealand never seems to lose her sense of humour while achieving ever better results each year as she steps it up to the next level.

A 16th place at the Junior World Championships in Russia and a career best FIS points race were the highlights of her 2016 season. Along with Gold medals in two US Super G races. Making for a stella Northern Hemisphere campaign leading into the New Zealand winter off-season as she set her sights on qualifying for the 2018 Winter Olympics over the next 12 months.

The 2016 winter down under saw her dominate the ANC FIS Tech racing. After the gut wrenching disappointment of missing out on selection for the NZ team to compete at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics Piera smashed out a dominant display of skiing to repeat her Continental Cup performance with two yellow bib results in slalom and GS and victory in both New Zealand Championship titles.

Piera is reigning NZ Champion in Slalom and GS and has represented New Zealand at three FIS World Championships (Schladming 2013, Vail/Beaver Creek 2015 and St. Moritz 2017). The opportunity to represent at the 2019 FIS World Championships in Are, Sweden motivated the Wanaka based athlete to push even harder.

There is some feisty, emerging ski race talent on the rise in New Zealand right now but they are going to have to bring something pretty special to get further than this girls coat tails. Each year Piera gets stronger faster and more determined to make her mark as one of New Zealand's premier alpine women.

She's also pretty clever with her race suit look, her suit design ideas are always original and challenging and the finished suits reflect her personal creativity. We know she will always dish up something special for next season's artwork.

Favorite One Studio garment: “My favourite pieces from One clothing would have to be the race suits you've made for me, you were able to take a hand drawn intricate design and print it directly onto the suit so easily and it came out just the way I imagined!"

Does it make a difference being able to have input into the design of your competition clothing? “100% We are training and racing everyday in our gear so the amount of time we spend in it, you want something that has everything you need and you enjoy wearing and One clothing ticks both the practical and style boxes."

Home Mountain: Cardrona, New Zealand

Favourite place to ski? “When I'm not at Cardrona my favourite place to ski would have to be Austria, there is endless hills for training and because it's their national sport, everyone is always so helpful and supportive to us over there.”

Best experience on the snow? “My second year FIS when I qualified for the second run in the GS at the Schladming World Champs in Austria.”

Who inspires you? "Ronda Rousey, she's a badass b*tch"
